LeadershipHealth PEI is a Crown Corporation responsible for the operation and delivery of publicly funded health care in Prince Edward Island.
The creation of Health PEI in July 2010 was a major step toward realizing the "One Island Health System" vision. Under this vision, the system will be more focused on meeting needs in the most appropriate setting, by the most appropriate provider and in the most cost effective manner. Since its establishment, Health PEI has strived to achieve this vision through its strategic plan and major strategic initiatives.
Board of Directors
Health PEI is governed by a Board of Directors. The Health PEI Board is an appointed, competency-based board which offers a variety of knowledge and experience to benefit the health system. The role of the Board is to oversee and manage the work of Health PEI in accordance with the Provincial Health Plan, provincial policy and legislation.
Senior Management Group
The Senior Management Group is comprised of clinical leaders and senior executives of Health PEI, and is chaired by the CEO (Chief Executive Officer). This team is responsible for the successful implementation of the strategic direction and for providing overall administrative management of Health PEI. Factors that influence their decision-making include Board Governance policy, the Provincial Health Plan, provincial policy, and applicable legislation. The Chief Executive Officer reports to the Board of Directors and is accountable for organizational performance.
